I just got my hands on a copy of Dan Cederholm’s Bulletproof Web Design. Wow! To say it is just what I was looking for is an understatement. As I read through the first chapter, it had an amazing effect on me…I could see the wall on which I had been banging my head as I tried to resolve various coding problems begin to shimmer before my very eyes, become transparent, and then become a door through which lay the promised land. It was like that last scene in Roger Rabbit where the brick wall of the warehouse is broken and the golden landscape of toontown comes bursting through, complete with a singing sun and little blue birds and dancing trees.
Ok, I may be exaggerating a little. But not by much. I LOVE this book! It’s like Dan is sitting down with me, patiently sharing all his tricks and the reasons behind them with lovely bits of code that you can try yourself in a matter of minutes and see that gosh golly gee it really does work! The experience is much better than trying to make your way through endless tutorials or various css sheets to try and glean the tidbits that are dropped there by giants. Dan sits you on the giants’ shoulders. So, to Dan I say: Thank you, thank you, thank you! And to everyone else I say: Buy this book!
